The winning grants were finally revealed today after a qualified and experienced team of firefighting professionals completed the review process. I’m happy to report that $56,950 in grants have been awarded to the following seven departments:

$10,000 – Adin Fire Protection District (towards repair of burned truck)

$3,450 – Idyllwild Volunteer Fire Company (AEDs)

$12,500 – Dobbins Oregon House Fire Dept. (extrication equipment)

$1,000 – Trinity Center Volunteer Fire Dept. (wildland boots)

$5,000 – Hornbrook Fire Protection District (PPE)

$15,000 – McCloud Fire Department (extractor)

$10,000 – Daggett Fire Department (fire hose & turnout gear)

What a thrill to be able to award grants to eleven departments today. A total of $60,000 is being shared among eleven smaller rural volunteer fire departments to provide everything from lots of PPE to thermal imaging cameras, reflective jackets, a rapid intervention air supply pack, and a washer/extractor. Congratulations to all five grant winners who received the news today. I committed a total of $51,500 to five different volunteer fire departments all over California. Pictured above is the team from the Suisun Fire Protection District in Fairfield, California, who were award $25,000 to purchase new turnout gear.

As a special inaugural gift, I also chose the CSFA Steamer Team to receive $4,500 to purchase new embroidered parade uniforms for the volunteers who donate their time doing events to educate the public about fire safety and prevention.

Well today is day we planned to reveal the grant winners but we need a few more days. This is a new adventure and we need little more time, but we’ll have the decisions by the end of the week for sure. Thanks for being patient.

It’s only been a week and requests are already coming in! The window to apply runs from April 6th to May 6th so any volunteer fire department in California needing safety equipment still has 3 weeks to apply. It’s easy.
